Our History

Our History God Cares Children's Ministry was founded by Kanyike Farouk. Aka (father for the Father) Farouk knows what it means to lose your family and live on the streets, spending each day searching for something to eat, and a place to lay your head. He has taken these children off the streets and is caring for them, providing food, clothing, shelter, and education with support through donations. Kanyike Farouk, a 21-year-old resident of Uganda, has faced numerous hardships from a young age. Tragically, his father passed away in a car accident before Kanyike’s birth, leaving his mother to struggle with the challenges of raising him as a poor woman from a disadvantaged family. In 2014, when Kanyike was just 11 years old, his mother also succumbed to cancer and she died also leaving him a total orphan, leaving him to be taken in by his aunt in Mityana. In 2019, Kanyike encountered Pastor Ssentongo David, a village pastor known for his dedication to helping the less fortunate. Pastor David took Kanyike under his wing, providing financial support for his education. However, Kanyike’s own compassion for those in need motivated him to start his own small charity organization, “GOD CARES CHILDREN’S MINISTRY” in Masajja, Wakiso District later that same year at the age of 16. With the support of friends and volunteers, Kanyike Farouk began collecting donations to assist the less privileged in his community. These funds were used to provide essential resources such as food, clothing, and educational materials. Despite facing various challenges, including limited resources and financial constraints, Kanyike remained steadfast in his commitment to making a positive impact. Through organizing fundraisers, awareness campaigns, and forming partnerships with local businesses and organizations, Kanyike expanded the reach of his charity. He successfully secured sponsorships for several children, enabling them to continue their education and pursue a brighter future. Kanyike’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, as he has received recognition from local authorities and community leaders for his dedication to improving the lives of the less fortunate. However, his ultimate goal is to create sustainable change and empower individuals to become self-sufficient. He firmly believes that education and skills training are key to breaking the cycle of poverty and building a better future for future generations. As Kanyike continues his journey with “GOD CARES CHILDREN’S MINISTRY” he remains grateful for the support he has received and the positive impact they have made. His determination to make a difference serves as an inspiration for others, including his dear sister Alysha Stickfort in USA, to find ways to contribute to the betterment of society. Together, they can create a brighter future for all, one small act of kindness at a time.

Who we are

Our organization the God Cares Children’s Ministry is dedicated to supporting children and families facing hunger in Wakiso, Uganda. Founded in 2019 by Kanyike Farouk, we are driven by a deep love for children of over 95 and a belief in the power of education. Our mission is to empower these children and the communities we serve, unlocking their potential and providing them with the opportunities they deserve. We understand that there is always more work to be done in uplifting disadvantaged communities in Uganda. However, we are proud of the significant impact we have already made. Our Mission Statement

Our unwavering commitment is to support impoverished and vulnerable children in Uganda by providing them with essential resources such as food, clothing, and access to education. We are dedicated to going above and beyond for these children, offering assistance every day and especially during times of crisis. Our aim is to instill hope in the hearts of those who have lost it, ultimately transforming their lives and shaping a better future for all. Currently, we are actively fundraising for two important initiatives: the construction of a home for orphans and abandoned children, and the provision of clean, safe drinking water. These projects are vital in ensuring the well-being and security of these children, and we are determined to make them a reality.
